-

Dingo Music‘s Killing Voice is one of Korea’s most popular YouTube platforms for musicians to perform on. Each artist gives a mini performance with snippets of their most popular songs. Countless K-Pop singers have performed on Killing Voice, including Taeyeon from Girls’ GenerationMAMAMOO, and SEVENTEEN.

The second most-viewed episode is singer Sung Si Kyung‘s performance from 2021, with 47 million views. In the 22-minute video, Sung Si Kyung serenaded fans by covering 16 of his songs, including “Every Moment of You,” “On the Street,” and “I Love U.”

On June 28, he hosted a live broadcast on his YouTube channel and answered fans’ questions. He brought up the fact that comedian Shin Dong Yup has been pressuring him to go on the singing show Immortal Songs, but he turned down the offer because he doesn’t think he’s at that level yet.

To me, the word “immortal” is a word to describe a performance for truly legendary singers—I’m just a mid-sized singer.

The singer then admitted that he might be taking himself too seriously because he has many famous songs, as seen through his Killing Voice episode.

I think I’m taking myself too seriously. A lot of people watched and enjoyed Killing Voice, and that means I have that many hit songs.

When a fan asked him if he had plans to film a second episode of Killing Voice, he responded with a joke telling people to watch his YouTube channel instead.

I’m putting so much work into my YouTube channel, so do I really need to do Killing Voice again? Can’t you guys watch my channel?

— Sung Si Kyung

Then Sung Si Kyung revealed how much he got paid for his Killing Voice video—it was not a lot.

I got paid ₩100,000 KRW (about $77.10 USD) for Dingo. I already sang all my famous songs. How can I do a second one? At that time, I thought I could do it, but now, I think people more famous than me should go on it.

Although netizens aren’t sure if he really was paid only ₩100,000 KRW (about $77.10 USD) or if he was exaggerating, it appears that Sung Si Kyung made up his mind. Also, despite being a legendary solo artist who debuted in 2000 and broke records with his hit songs, he appears to view himself with a humble attitude. The singer continues to upload content to his YouTube channel, which has over 1 million subscribers.
