Karan Johar is one of the most celebrated filmmakers in India and when he returns to the director’s chair after seven years, the movie is bound to create buzz. We are talking about his upcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani which is headlined by Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. A special screening of the film was held in Mumbai and was attended by B-town’s biggest stars. Leading lady Alia Bhatt turned up at the premiere with her husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor. The power couple was dressed in matching black sweatshirts with the words “Team Rocky Aur Rani” printed on them.

The film’s hero Ranveer Singh too wore a similar printed sweatshirt to the event but in white, along with a multi-coloured pair of denims. While the actor’s wife Deepika Padukone did not attend the premiere, Ranveer Singh’s parents and sister attended the screening to cheer for the star.
Along with cast members Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi, celebrities such as Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Gauri Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Neha Dhupia, Angad Bedi, Ananya Panday, Sara Ali Khan, Javed Akhtar, Abhishek Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan and Malaika Arora were also present at the event.

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh have been on a whirlwind tour of several Indian cities to promote the film. Earlier this week, the superstars were in Kolkata as part of promotions. While in the city, Alia Bhatt was seen learning to speak a few lines in Bengali to say on stage. For context, Alia Bhatt plays a Bengali in the film, while Ranveer Singh is a Punjabi. The cultural differences between them form the crux of the film’s conflict, the trailer suggests.
While she fumbled through the speech, Alia Bhatt managed to complete her lines on stage with some encouragement from co-star Ranveer Singh.
Sharing the fun video on Instagram, Alia Bhatt wrote, “3 days to go. See you in cinemas, 28th July.”
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani marks Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh’s second on-screen collaboration after their hugely successful film Gully Boy. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is scheduled to release in theatres on July 28.
