Vicky Kaushal is in a happy space. The actor has had a great year so far with the success of his release Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. The actor, who made his debut in 2015, reflected on his professional and personal journey in Bollywood during an interaction with Film Companion’s Anupama Chopra. During the conversation, Vicky Kaushal spoke about his wife, superstar Katrina Kaif, and how he trusted her advice and opinion regarding work. He also spoke about the actress creating “her own era” in the face of various challenges. About Katrina Kaif’s approach to work, Vicky Kaushal said, “When it comes to work, she is so practical. Otherwise, she is a typical Cancerian. She’s a very emotional and sensitive person. But when it comes to this side – and maybe it comes from experience – that she has got her ground reality right. If fact, that helps me so much and one of the biggest support I get from her is that she will say the fact as a fact, especially when it comes to my performance or my film trailer, or anything to do with my work.”
In particular, Vicky Kaushal is always apprehensive to show his dance videos to Katrina Kaif, who is known for her iconic dance numbers, the actor confessed. “Sometimes when I show her my dance rehearsals then I am dead. I know this is coming from all that experience, and it helps me so much. When it comes to making decisions, when I am wondering ye karu ya wo karu (what should I do)… she will really state things which I know are coming from so much experience of highs and lows, of right decisions and mistakes. When she has an opinion, I know I have to consider it seriously because it is very objective. That wisdom and practicality is something very commendable.”
He also explained that he respected Katrina Kaif’s journey in Bollywood and how she has “really hustled and worked hard”. The doting husband said, “Knowing her, not everything was going as per her, she has really hustled and worked hard and aced it. I don’t want to cross a line on her behalf but I truly feel that like there was Hema Malini’s era, Rekha’s era, and I truly feel she has achieved that sort of milestone on her merit.”
Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif have been married since 2021. When asked about what he has learnt about marriage in two years, the star said that it was important to “choose your moments to be quiet”. He also added, “When two people come together, we should always try and reach a middle point. We are always in the quest for a middle point which is not me, that is not you, which is us. You have to let go of you, as now it is us.”
On the work front, Vicky Kaushal will be seen in Sam Bahadur next with Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
