When Akshay Kumar Told Maniesh Paul To “Shut Up” At Award Show

Actor-TV host Maniesh Paul is one of the most recognisable faces in the entertainment industry, thanks to his extensive work in TV and films. The entertainer rose to fame with his exceptional hosting skills at live events and televised shows. In a recent interview with Humans Of Bombay, Maniesh Paul spoke about his journey, sharing milestones both good and bad. Referring to one such unpleasant incident, Maniesh Paul recounted how Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar once shouted at him during an awards show.  Explaining that the incident occurred when Akshay Kumar was getting off stage after winning an award, Maniesh Paul said, “I stopped him and said, ‘Akshay sir ek dialogue to bol dijiye (at least say a dialogue).‘ To this, Akshay Kumar turned and said, “Chup kar(shut up). Kya sir sir bole hi jaa raha hai tu mic hai toh (What sir? You have been constantly speaking just because you have a mic),” in a stern tone.

Maniesh Paul confessed that he was terrified by the reaction. “ I started sweating at this. I started telling him how he insulted me in front of my mother. I said I was just asking him for tips on action. Our conversation just went to another level and everyone was in splits,” adding that even Akshay Kumar was impressed by his presence of mind. 

In the same interview, Maniesh Paul also spoke about how his wife Sanyuktha is a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan. He said that he finally introduced his wife to the superstar on the sets of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. He said that he waited several years to introduce his wife to SRK as he wanted the actor to know who he was. He said that the actor stopped the shoot of the reality show and spoke to Maniesh Paul’s wife for several minutes, much to her delight.

On the work front,  Maniesh Paul was last seen in Rafuchakkar, which is streaming on Jio Cinema. His last theatrical release was JugJugg Jeeyo headlined by Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani.
