When Navneet Nishan Kissed Aamir Khan “7-8 Times” For Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke Scene That Was Cut

If one were to make a list of the most watchable and fun Bollywood films of the 90s, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke would undoubtedly feature on it. The comedy-drama headlined by Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla also starred Sharokh Bharucha, Kunal Khemu and Navneet Nishan in pivotal roles. Now, as the film has completed 30 years since its release, Navneet Nishan who plays the role of Maya Bijlani in the film shared her experience of working on the project. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Navneet Nishan recounted an incident where she had to kiss Aamir Khan repeatedly. Explaining that the kiss did not make it to the final cut, the actress added, “There was a cute scene which got edited, sadly. After our engagement, I go to Aamir’s house to pick him up and give him a peck on the cheek. There was a lipstick mark on his cheek when I kissed. And later, Aamir being Aamir said ‘This has to be in continuity’. So, all through the day, he made me kiss his cheek at least 7-8 times.”

Sharing her reaction to the incident, Navneet Nishan added, “I came home and I told my friends that I have kissed Aamir Khan all day long! Meri toh lottery nikal gayi [I lucked out].”

Navneet Nishan also added that she was thrilled at the prospect of working alongside popular stars like Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla, and Mahesh Bhatt. Being on set with such massive stars, along with three talented and adorable child actors, made her feel both nervous and incredibly fortunate, she said. “I was an absolutely nobody. And here were these massive stars and these three little children, who were smart, cute, full of spunk and brilliant actors. I used to feel kahan aa gai hoon main. I couldn’t believe my luck that I was going to be a part of such a big film. It was a delightful experience. It was one of the most exhilarating, early experiences of my career,” she was quoted as saying.

Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Tahir Hussain. The film had released on July 5, 1993.
