At the time, a spokesperson for Meghan and Harry claimed that the chase “resulted in a number of close to collisions involving different drivers on the street, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers.”
The spokesperson additionally referred to the incident as “close to catastrophic” and referred to the pursuers as “a hoop of extremely aggressive paparazzi.”
Some, together with NYC mayor Eric Adams, drew parallels to the 1997 dying of Harry’s mom, Princess Diana, after being chased by paparazzi.
Others have apparently claimed that Meghan and Harry exaggerated how critical the chase truly was — and now the couple is responding to these claims.
“Respectfully, contemplating the Duke’s household historical past, one must assume nothing of the couple or anyone related to them to imagine this was any type of P.R. stunt,” Meghan and Harry’s spokesperson, Ashley Hansen, advised the New York Times.
“Quite frankly, I feel that’s abhorrent.”
