Stanley Tucci has been with his wife, Felicity Blunt, for a minute now — but there was a time when they almost broke up.
The Lovely Bones actor recalled on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs podcast this week that he previously tried breaking things off with Felicity because of their dramatic age difference.
“I was afraid to get into a relationship, and I kept trying to break it off,” Stanley, 62, shared. “I’m 21 years older than she is and I didn’t want to feel old for the rest of my life! But I knew that this was an incredibly special person.”
Stanley met Felicity — a literary agent who’s also the sister of actor Emily Blunt — at the premiere of his and Emily’s 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada.
They reconnected four years later at Emily’s wedding to John Krasinski and married in 2012. Stanley had previously been wedded to his first wife, Kate Tucci, from 1995 until her 2009 death from breast cancer. He shares three children with Kate and two with Felicity.
“Felicity has been so incredible, taking on a widower and three children whose mother died,” Stanley added. “That’s a huge thing at a very young age. If anybody made things better for all of us, it’s her. She’s the one.”
