Those About To Die Trailer Out: Anthony Hopkins features in the new Ancient Rome Peacock series

Peacock has revealed the first trailer and premiere date for Anthony Hopkins’s next Gladiator series, Those About To Die. All 10 episodes of this epic series, directed by Roland Emmerich, will start streaming on Thursday, July 18.

Those About To Die, based on a novel by Daniel P. Mannix, tells the story of Emperor Vespasian (Anthony Hopkins), who lived during the peak of the Roman Empire. The show explores the world of gladiatorial combat and highlights the desire for blood and spectacle among the masses that defines the evil side. It presents a wide range of characters from throughout the empire, highlighting their conflicts at the intersection of dynasties, politics, and sports.

Hopkins’s cast includes Jojo Macari as Domitian Flavianus, Iwan Rheon as Tenax, Sara Martins as Cala, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Viggo, Gabriella Pession as Antonia, Dimitri Leonidas as Scorpus, and numerous others. 

The show’s producers are Hollywood Gang Productions, Centropolis Entertainment, and Street Entertainment. Emmerich, Gianni Nunnari, and Harald Kloser serve as the show’s executive producers. Five of the show’s episodes are directed by Emmerich and Marco Kreuzpaintner, respectively.
