Ariana Grande’s New Album Hints That Her Split From Dalton Gomez Was Far Messier Than We First Thought, So Here’s Everything We Learned

-

“Hung all my clothes in the closet you made / Your shoes still in boxes, I send them your way / Hoping life brings you no new pain,” she sings. “I rearrange my memories / I try to rewrite our life.”

As many fans have pointed out online, this is the first time on the album that you notably hear the pain in Ariana’s voice as it cracks when she sings about how she wishes she could let go of all the memories and “hate” her ex.

“But no matter how I try to / And no matter how I want to / And no matter how easy things could be if I did / And no matter how guilty, I still feel saying it / I wish I hated you / I wish that weren’t true,” the lyrics go, as she indicates that she still views her former partner as a good person, in spite of all they’ve been through.

“Wish there was worse to you / I wish you were worse to me,” she sings. “Yeah, I wish I hated you.”
