BTS, TWICE, aespa, BLACKPINK, And SEVENTEEN Earn Double Platinum And Gold Certifications For Streaming In Japan

-

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!

In 2020, the RIAJ implemented a new certification system for online streaming of songs, as an addition to its pre-existing certification systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales. According to the new system, songs are certified silver once they reach 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, and platinum at 100 million streams.

In the RIAJ’s newly announced batch of certifications, BTS’s 2020 Japanese song “Stay Gold” was officially certified double platinum after surpassing 200 million streams in Japan—making it the group’s first Japanese song to achieve the feat.

Meanwhile, both TWICE and aespa earned two gold certifications each this month. Both TWICE’s recent English single “MOONLIGHT SUNRISE” and their 2016 Korean hit “CHEER UP” were certified gold after reaching 50 million streams each.

aespa similarly received official gold certifications for both their 2020 Korean debut track “Black Mamba” and their 2021 Korean smash hit “Next Level,” each of which surpassed 50 million streams.

Finally, both BLACKPINK’s 2016 Korean debut song “BOOMBAYAH” and SEVENTEEN’s 2016 Korean hit “Pretty U” were certified gold after hitting 50 million streams each.

Congratulations to BTS, TWICE, aespa, BLACKPINK, and SEVENTEEN!
