Fair Trade Commission Investigates HYBE Under Suspicions of Unfair Sales Tactics Regarding Photocards

-

YG, JYP, and SM Entertainment were all previously investigated.

It was previously reported that the big three entertainment companies, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment were all investigated by the Fair Trade Commission recently. The companies were under suspicions of unfair sales tactics regarding photocards.

Consumers took issue with the way photocards were random, such that they were forced to purchase albums with photocards they did not want, just to get the card they did desire. As of August 3, 2023, according to industry insiders, HYBE Labels was also investigated that very day. The officials handling the investigations refused comments to the media, stating that it was confidential.

Insiders predicted that “not just HYBE would be investigated, but the others in the so-called big 5 agencies such as CUBE Entertainment, would also be investigated.”
