LE SSERAFIM And NewJeans Earn Their 1st Platinum Certifications In Japan For Streaming; aespa And BTS Go Gold

-

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!

In 2020, the RIAJ implemented a new certification system for online streaming of songs, as an addition to its pre-existing certification systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales. According to the new system, songs are certified silver once they reach 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, and platinum at 100 million streams.

In the RIAJ’s newly announced batch of certifications, both LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans earned their first-ever official platinum certifications for streaming.

Notably, both rookie girl groups achieved the feat with Korean songs—LE SSERAFIM with “ANTIFRAGILE” and NewJeans with “Ditto“—after both songs surpassed 100 million streams each in Japan.

NewJeans also received a gold certification for their hit debut song “Attention,” which has now surpassed 50 million streams in Japan.

Meanwhile, aespa earned their first-ever gold streaming certification for “Savage,” and BTS’s 2015 hit “RUN” was also certified gold after reaching 50 million streams.

Congratulations to all four artists!
