SM Entertainment Responds To Death Threat Made Against Aespa’s Winter

-

Someone had previously threatened to kill her at the airport.

After a netizen found a post on an online community that threatened aespa Winter’s safety, they immediately sent a screenshot of the post to the police. The post threatened to “stab Winter with a weapon and kill her during her departure” on August 8, 2023. The police were then dispatched to follow the girls from the airport entrance to their boarding gate.

After sending the girls off safely, SM Entertainment responded to the media about the matter. They have reportedly already sued the person who wrote the threatening post.

We have sued the person who wrote the post threatening her safety. Yesterday, there was a post that appeared on an online community, threatening Winter’s safety. As soon as the company confirmed this, we filed a lawsuit at the police station with regards to the person who wrote the post, and firmly asked them to cooperate and quickly investigate the matter. Also, we will strengthen our security, and even for aespa’s departure today, thanks to the cooperation of the police and security detail, they safely left the country.

As the police has also been receiving quite a few reports on cases recently, they visited our office today and yesterday, to check up on our security status. Our company will do our best to protect our artists’ safety in the future as well.

aespa has left the country as of August 8, 2023, to participate in the Outside Lands Music and Art Festival in America.
