They’re meant to be debuting in a new NCT unit!
SM Entertainment recently revealed the two newest trainees who would be part of SM Rookies, and here’s how netizens are reacting.
The past few months have not been easy for SM Entertainment, including EXO-CBX‘s lawsuit, mistreatment allegations, and idols expressing frustration. It seems like SM is ready to move on as they introduced fans to two new trainees who would be part of SM Rookies.
On June 28, netizens were shocked when the company two videos. The first was of a trainee called Yushi! In 2021, SM’s audition Instagram page posted a video of trainee “Y” from Tokyo. Following the video, many believe that the person in the video was Yushi, who was asking for support from the fans with his audition.
The video started with a dramatic reveal of Yushi’s face, and the trainee then showcased his dancing skills. From the emphasis on his dancing and the fluidity of his moves in the video, it is easy to assume that his strengths lie in dancing.
The video moved from the school to the outdoors and tried to capture the essence of Yushi’s personality through his movements.
The next trainee introduced was Sion. Like Yushi, Sion also seemingly posted a video around that time on Instagram.
In his video, the trainee showcased his own visuals and charm in a bright and fresh concept.
While the environments seemed similar to the first video, they both radiated completely different vibes and showcased their own personalities.
Yet, while many initially thought the new rookies would be part of an upcoming group, fans were quick to bring back an old clip where SM Entertainment announced that when they revealed their new Korean and Japanese rookies, they would be part of a new team within NCT.
When the videos were released, it wasn’t surprising that netizens had mixed reactions to the announcement.
In particular, many raised anger at the company for removing a Japanese and Korean trainee from the NCT lineup to add two new rookies. They also emphasized that the company’s recent behavior means SM should focus on treating their own artists well before bringing in new idols.
so like what was the point of kicking out sungtaro from nct if they just gonna add two new rookies of the same nationality ? 😭 https://t.co/ONHIa3ro3S

I think they better be debut in a new group rather than be part of nct new unit because SM hasn’t treat my neo boys fairly, SM should treat my neo boys better first before debuting nct new unit nor new boy group🥹💔 https://t.co/t8hYfHQjtT

While there is no information on when they will debut or the plans for the members, it’s clear that SM will have to think carefully about the future as it is already in bad favor with fans.
