They will be picking their new NCT members.
SM Entertainment will choose new NCT members through their reality show NCT Universe : LASTART.
According to a press release from SM Entertainment to Herald Pop, NCT Universe : LASTART will begin on July 27 and the show will follow the process of SM Entertainment selecting the members for their new team, currently tentatively named NCT NEW TEAM. The show is named LASTART as a portmanteau of LAST and START. LAST signifies the end of NCT’s infinite expansion concept while START showcases the start of a new team.
The show will feature male trainees participating in a series of missions, competing to be selected to debut. BoA and Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk will lead the show as artist directors while other artists from SM Entertainment will also appear on the show to support the trainees.
The show will also display the selection process for SM Entertainment’s artists, which has typically been kept behind the scenes. Everything from member composition, training and practice, and the final team formation will be put on display. The show will be broadcast globally, airing on ENA and TVING in Korea, Nippon TV in Japan, and KOCOWA+ in North, Central, and South America.
