American artists have also had items throw at them on stage recently.
TWICE are currently on their Ready To Be world tour in North America and have entertained crowds nationwide.
The tour has spawned multiple viral moments like Mina recreating her iconic “Sharon” pose…

…and even the unlucky ONCE who shared their car got robbed while they were at the concert.
@clarence.angelo You! have stolen my card, oh yah! Never let u go oh oh 🎶 twice
Fans have also been able to pass gifts to the group during the show’s encore, usually passing them off to security to hand to the members or asking the members to catch them while on stage.

During one of the group’s shows in Chicago, the encore went completely as planned before an item thrown on stage hit Dahyun in her side.
Dahyun was surprised by the action but played it off, seeming to tell the fan that threw the item that it was okay.
While the item looked like a soft stuffed animal, many fans felt that throwing anything without permission was rude and potentially dangerous.
This stuff has to stop. It’s been going on so much lately and it’s so scary. People better not being stupid at TWICE concert.
“It was a plushie!” IDGAF. You shouldn’t be throwing things at people. https://t.co/Eq6x0yVufm— zyozyo⁷ 🥢 | set me free (@thequeenscarjo) June 29, 2023

Other K-Pop artists have dealt with similar occurrences — during NCT DREAM‘s The Dream Show: In A Dream tour, fans would throw items on stage, sometimes even hitting the members.

While these experiences have turned out to be “minor,” other artists have suffered negatively because of items thrown on stage in the last few weeks.
American artist Bebe Rexha recently had to get stitches above her eye after an audience member threw their phone, hitting her face during the show, and country singer Kelsea Ballerini had to go off stage to calm down after a bracelet hit her in the eye.
Guys. I know we all mean well. We all want to show Kelsea love the best way we know how, and shower her with all the gifts. But throwing things on stage where artists are already so vulnerable is NOT the move. If you can’t hand it to her, there are so many other options. Lord,… pic.twitter.com/oIgy2JDn3V

These two instances prove that small items, even light ones, can physically or mentally harm an artist.
While it is understandable to want to give an idol something as a way of thanking them, the best way to do so is with their permission once you are sure you have it.
