Lifetime’s Reveals Ripped from Headlines Slate Of Movies, Including ‘Murdaugh Murders’ With Bill Pullman

Lifetime has revealed its ripped from the headlines slate of movies for the fall that it has dubbed the “Truly Unbelievable Movie Event.” The seven flicks are inspired or based on true events  – all of which were filmed prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike. 

Including in the slate is the network’s 500th original flick called Murdaugh Murders: The Movie that stars Bill Pullman and will air Oct 14-15. Other new titles include Stolen Baby: The Murder of Heidi Broussard with Emily Osmet (Sept 23); Amish Stud: The Eli Weaver Story, from EP and star Luke McFarlane with Kristen Vangness (Sept 30); Bad Romance: The Vicky White Story, from EP and star Wendi McLendon-Covey (Oct 21); Would You Kill for Me: The Mary Bailey Story, from EP and star Melissa Joan Hart with tiktok star Celina “Spooky BooBoo” Myers (Oct. 28); the previously announced How She Caught a Killer, from EP and star Sarah Drew with Amelia Hamlin (Sept 16); and the previously announced Buying Back My Daughter, from EP and Meagan Good with Ariana Madix (Oct 7).

The Murdaugh Murders follows the true story of Alex Murdaugh, who was found guilty in the double homicide of his wife, Maggie, and son Paul. Its produced by Murdaugh Prods, in association with Johnson Production Group. Greg Beeman directs script by Michael Vickerman.

Bad Romance tells the story of Vicky White (McLendon-Covey), a lonely corrections officer who falls for a prisoner (Rossif Sutherland), who she attempts to break out of prison. The movie is EP’ed by McLendon-Covey, Tom Patricia, Glady Gonzalez and Howard Braunstein with Stan Brooks directing from a script by Gregory Small and Richard Blaney.

Would You Kill For Me follows three generations of women who become involved in the crime of a violent family member. It’s from Mb Ontario Film Inc. in association with Johnson Productions Group. Simone Stock directs the screenplay from Gregg McBride that’s based on the book My Mother’s Soldier by Mary Elizabeth Bailey.

Amish Stud is about an Amish Man (MacFarlane) who leads a secret life of hooking up with women he meets online. The movie is produced for Lifetime by Stud Productions, in association with Milojo Prods. and Johnson Prod. Group. Stacey Harding directs from a script by Hunter Smith and Kim Izzo.

Stolen Baby is based on a true story of best friends, one of whom gives birth and then goes missing. It’s from MarVista Entertainment. Michelle Ouellet directs off a script by Ali Salerno.
