Gal Gadot is back on screen in Heart of Stone, premiering as part of the Netflix schedule for August 7-13.
On Friday, August 11, the popular streamer will release Heart of Stone, an intriguing spy thriller starring Gadot. Directed by Tom Harper from a script penned by Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder, the movie follows an elite agent called Rachel Stone (Gadot) as she attempts to prevent a mysterious organization from taking over the world. Heart of Stone also stars Jamie Dornan, Matthias Schweighöfer, Sophie Okonedo, Jing Lusi, and Paul Ready.
On Thursday, August 10, Netflix will release Painkiller, a limited series focusing on the opioid crisis. Based on Barry Meier’s book Pain Killer and the New Yorker Magazine article “The Family That Built the Empire of Pain” by Patrick Radden Keefe, Painkiller is directed by Peter Berg. It stars Uzo Aduba, Matthew Broderick, Taylor Kitsch, Dina Shihabi, West Duchovny, and John Rothman. Guest stars include Clark Gregg, Jack Mulhern, Sam Anderson, Ana Cruz Kayne, Brian Markinson, Noah Harpster, John Ales, Johnny Sneed, Tyler Ritter, and Carolina Bartczak.
The six-episode drama is described as a “fictionalized retelling of events,” per the official synopsis. “It explores some of the origins and aftermath of the opioid crisis in America, highlighting the stories of the perpetrators, victims, and truth-seekers whose lives are forever altered by the invention of OxyContin. An examination of crime, accountability, and the systems that have repeatedly failed hundreds of thousands of Americans.”
