“Can I get an amen up in here?” Paramount+ will add full 90-minute episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 to its catalog on August 9, allowing fans to rewatch the entire season with extended content.
Apart from the extended versions of Season 15 episodes, Paramount+ will also air Drag Race Mexico later this fall.
When RuPaul’s Drag Race moved to MTV for its 15th season, it immediately drew criticism for reducing the usual 90-minute format to just an hour. This decision gives less airtime for contestants to showcase their “uniqueness, nerve, and talent.” However, after a few episodes — and following the petition from fans — the cable channel brought back the show’s customary 90-minute episodes on March 10.
Unfortunately, the earlier episodes did not receive the same treatment, which reduced exposure for iconic Drag Race challenges, including mini, reading, and maxi challenges. This also includes less airtime for the runways and the queen’s “werk room” scenes.
“You asked for it, and you got it – and we’re thrilled to deliver 90-minute episodes for all of Season 15, showcasing the joy and genius of this legendary cast,” executive producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato said via Variety.
The extended, 90-minute version of Season 15 episodes will also give fans time to revisit some of the season’s highlights, including lip-sync battles, the Emmy-nominated “Wigloose: The Rusical” episode, and Sasha Colby’s victory during the season finale.
Who Are the Season 15 Queens?
The top queens include Mistress Isabelle Brooks and Luxx Noir London. Anetra landed in second place after Sasha Colby ultimately won the coveted “America’s Next Drag Superstar” title. The rest of the contenders are Loosey LaDuca, Salina EsTitties, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Spice, Jax, Aura Mayari, Robin Fierce, Amethyst, Sugar, Princess Poppy, and Irene Dubois.
The award-winning reality competition program recently celebrated its latest achievement, having been nominated in this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards with nine nominations, including one for RuPaul in the outstanding host category.
